Whoever Knows God Loves Others

«He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.» 1 John 4:8

John was the brother of James and was one of the closest disciples of Jesus. He helped to spread the story of Jesus a lot. He wrote three letters that are in the Bible and wrote the last book, called Revelation.

John lived longer than the other disciples. He was persecuted a lot for talking about Jesus. When he was an old man, he was sent to a non-populated island called Patmos.

John is known as the apostle of love. But do you know what he was called before? Son of thunder. He didn’t have much love in his heart, and he was rude to others. John’s heart needed to undergo a great change. And Jesus taught him to love.

The John that was cruel and liked to show-off became loving and humble. In his letters, he calls his readers “little children.”

John was the one who said: “If you don’t love others, it is because you don’t know God. God is love.” John learned how to love, and we should also love our neighbor.

Let’s practice!

Can you memorize the verse? “He who does not love does not know God, for God is love” (1 John 4:8).
