«This is love, that we walk according to his commandments.» 2 John 1:6
Do you love your mom and dad? Do you tell them every day: “I love you?” Parents are very happy when their children hug and kiss them and say “I love you.”
But it isn’t only with words that you can show your love for your parents. Do you know another way they recognize that you love them? When you are obedient to them: when they say it’s time to go to bed and you obey; when they say it’s bath time and you obey; when they ask you to put your toys away and you obey.
It’s the same with God. There’s no use in saying that we love God if we don’t obey Him. God loved us so much that He sent Jesus to die for us. He loved us first. And, in response, we should love Him too.
Obeying God means that you have known Him and accepted Him into your heart. Your mom and dad have told you the beautiful stories of Jesus and you have understood how good He is and how much He loves you, and you have also understood that He wants you to be obedient. This is how we walk in love.
Let’s practice!
Memorize the verse: “This is love, that we walk according to His commandments” (2 John 1:6).
