«Then we turned and journeyed into the wilderness of the Way of the Red Sea, as the Lord spoke to me.» Deuteronomy 2:1
Do you know how many years the people of Israel spent in the desert before entering the Promised Land? Forty years! That’s a long time, isn’t it? They could have spent less time in the desert. But because they complained too much, God saw that they needed to learn some lessons before they received their new land.
One of the lessons was to trust God. They kept imagining that they would have no water or food in the desert, and suddenly they would start complaining as if they were already hungry and thirsty. But this never happened.
And when they learned that in the new land there were many giants, they trembled with fear. All those who came out of Egypt and distrusted and complained ended up dying and did not get to know the promised land.
When we do God’s will we are happy. But when we disobey Him and don’t trust Him, we become ungrateful and complain about everything.
Let’s practice!
Have you ever been grounded or on time out? Why? I’m sure your mom or dad wanted to teach you a lesson. Talk to them about it.
