«Be strong and of good courage.» Joshua 1:9
Joshua was the new leader that God had appointed in the place of Moses to lead the people. Was he afraid? Yes, he was! Imagine standing in the place of a leader as strong and wise as Moses!
Therefore, God said these words to Joshua: “Joshua, always repeat to the people the laws I have given you! Always think about them, each day, and be obedient to them! If everyone does this, everything will work out! It is I, God, who am saying this! You can trust Me! I am telling you to be strong and courageous! Don’t be terrified! Don’t be afraid! Don’t be discouraged! I Myself will be with you every day!”
Ah! After hearing these words, Joshua must have lifted his head and felt very brave, because he was not alone! The greatest strength that exists was with him: the strength that comes from God!
Let’s practice!
Are you afraid sometimes? Memorize the verse: “Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
