The Example Of Caleb

«I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadesh Barnea to spy out the land, and I brought back word to him as it was in my heart.» Joshua 14:7

Do you remember the story of the spies sent by Moses to the land of Canaan? Only two came back excited: Joshua and Caleb! The others moaned, complained and said that it was impossible to enter the land.

Even though most said it was impossible, the people entered the promised land! How old is your dad? How about your grandpa? Caleb was forty years old when he went to spy on the land of Canaan. Now he was 85 years old!

And so began the division of the land of Canaan among the tribes of Israel. The brave and faithful Caleb would also receive his share. Even at 85 years old, he felt as strong as the day he went to spy on Canaan. He even felt prepared to go to war!

How brave, right? The part he received was inhabited by giants, but he was not afraid because he trusted that God would give him the strength to drive out those giants!

Let’s practice!

What are you afraid to do? To greet people? To talk to them? Are you afraid of darkness? Ask Jesus to make you as brave as Caleb!
