«So it happened, when their hearts were merry, that they said, ‘Call for Samson, that he may perform for us.’» Judges 16:25
Although he was very strong and had a special job, Samson disobeyed his parents and God. He didn’t mind having alcoholic drinks and he made friends with the Philistines, the biggest enemies of Israel. Can you imagine?
One day Samson went to visit a girlfriend in the city of Gaza. When the enemies heard that he was there, they locked the city gates to get him. When he went out, he saw the locked gates, tore them off, and carried them on his back to a hill far away from there.
The Philistines asked his girlfriend to discover the secret of his strength. She insisted and cried until Samson told her that he couldn’t cut his hair. While he slept, she called the Philistines, and they shaved his head and tied him up. When he woke up, Samson had no more strength. The enemies hurt his eyes and put him to spin a mill.
Samson was very sorry, and God forgave him. But he ended up dying with his enemies.
