A Sad End for King Saul

«So Saul, his three sons, his armorbearer, and all his men died together that same day.» 1 Samuel 31:6

Israel’s first king, Saul, turned away from God and did many wrong things. In addition to persecuting David out of jealousy, he took the place of the priests during sacrifices. But the worst thing he did was that he consulted a witch. A witch is a person who communicates with Satan. When Saul did this, he started to obey whatever Satan told him.

After Saul consulted this witch, he went to war. But he did not accept that God would go with him, so he was defeated. The Philistine enemies killed his three sons, including Jonathan, David’s best friend. And King Saul ended up killing himself, to avoid being killed by the Philistines who were approaching him.

What a sad end, isn’t it? He could have been a successful king, but he was proud and wanted to do everything his way.
