Solomon’s Prayer

«Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart.» 1 Kings 3:9

King David grew old and died. His son Solomon took his place. Solomon loved God. And when he was chosen to become king, he was not showing off and saying: “Look, I am so much better than you!”

In fact, he felt very afraid. Once, God asked him what he would like to receive. Wow! God is able to give anything we want. Solomon could have asked to be very rich and famous. But he told God that he felt like a child. How could he lead a kingdom, solve so many issues and protect the people from enemies?

Do you know what he asked for? He asked God for wisdom to make the right decisions. He asked God for a kind heart to correctly judge the people who came to him.

God answered his prayer by giving him what he had asked for, but God also gave him riches and fame.

Let’s practice!

What would you like to ask God for today?
