«In the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel […] he began to build the house of the Lord.» 1 Kings 6:1
It had been four years since Solomon had become king. During this time, he organized himself to carry out a great project that his father David had greatly desired to accomplish: building the temple.
Solomon provided the best materials and hired the best workers to make everything perfect.
It was a special work. In the construction you could not hear hammers or other iron instruments. Every stone and every piece of metal was cut, shaped, polished, and left in the exact shape and size just to be positioned into place.
This teaches us how we should behave in the house of God: with reverence.
When the beautiful temple was ready with all its furniture, curtains, and fixtures, there was a beautiful ceremony to dedicate the temple to God. The people were very happy and satisfied!
Let’s practice!
Talk with your mom about how to be reverent at church.
