«And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat;… but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you[] shall surely die.” » Genesis 2:16,17
Adam and Eve had an amazing life in the Garden of Eden. They took care of all the plants and animals, and Adam even had the fun task of naming all the animals. Just imagine, name every animal you see! But, in the midst of all this beauty and fun, God gave them a very important rule: “Eat freely from any tree in the garden, but do not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for in the day you eat from it you will surely die.”
One day, while walking through the garden, Eve found a snake near this special tree. The serpent persuaded Eve to eat the forbidden fruit. Eve also gave a piece to Adam. Sadly, by disobeying the only rule God had given, Adam and Eve were expelled from the Garden of Eden.
This story teaches us that, when God asks us to do or not to do something, it is because He knows what is best for us. God wants to protect us, just as our parents give us rules to protect us. When we do something wrong, it will have consequences. That is, bad things can happen to us when we disobey God and our parents. Be obedient and your home will be very happy!
Take Action
For two days, accept the challenge to immediately obey whatever your parents ask, without hesitation or questions. Yes, I know some children won't like the idea, but you'll see during these two days that immediate obedience can bring incredible harmony and joy to the home.
