THE TOWER OF CONFUSION

«Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech. » Genesis 11: 7

After the flood, Noah's family had the great challenge of starting the world anew. Years passed, and the earth was full of people again. Some of these people began to doubt God's promises. It was then that they had an idea: “Let's build a tower that is so tall that reaches to the heavens! That way, we'll be safe if a flood happens again!” They began construction, laying brick by brick. They were proud of it, but God was not happy.

Back then, everyone spoke the same language. So God decided to confuse their language. And that's why we have more than seven thousand languages! Suddenly, no one could understand each other anymore, and the tower building was abandoned. This tower became known as Babel, which means “confusion.”

In the same way, pride can get us into serious trouble. When we brag, saying, “Look at me! Look how amazing I am!”, we are moving away from what God wants for us. God wants us to share with others how wonderful He is, not ourselves. That is why God prefers humility to pride. Those who are humble do not think they are better than others, and will always be well regarded by people.

Take Action

How about learning how to say “Jesus loves you” in different languages? This is an amazing way to spread this beautiful message around the world! Choose a few languages and research how to say that phrase in each of them. For example, in English it is “Jesus loves you,” in Spanish: “Jesús te ama”, and in French: “Jésus t'aime.” Practice saying these phrases and you'll be spreading the love of Jesus in multiple languages!
