«Thus David the son of Jesse reigned over all Israel….And the time that he reigned over Israel was forty years; seven years reigned he in Hebron, and thirty and three years reigned he in Jerusalem….And he died in a good old age, full of days, riches, and honour: and Solomon his son reigned in his stead.» 1 Chronicles 29: 26-28
Imagine being known as someone who has a heart like God's. It would be wonderful, wouldn't it? That was David's story. He started out as a simple shepherd, but he had something very special: a giant faith and a heart that sought to do what is right in God's eyes.
When David faced the giant Goliath, he didn't just rely on his strength: he knew that God was with him. This shows the courage that comes from faith, from believing that, with God by our side, we can face any challenge, no matter how big.
David was also a great composer. He wrote many songs (which we call the Psalms) about how wonderful God is and how important it is to talk to Him, giving thanks for good things and asking for help in difficult times. And even though he was a king, David didn't forget where he came from and who helped him get there.
But David wasn't perfect; he made mistakes. What makes David so special is that, when he made mistakes, he apologized to God sincerely and always tried to improve. This teaches us that we don't need to be perfect to be loved by God. We do need to have a heart that wants to follow His ways.

For this week, talk to your parents and ask them to prepare a list of lessons they themselves have learned in their own lives. At the next sunset service, ask them to share these stories with you. It will be an amazing time of learning and connection, showing how, just like David, we all have valuable experiences and lessons with God to share.
