«Now the rest of the acts of Solomon, first and last, are they not written in the book of Nathan the prophet […]? Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel forty years. Then Solomon rested with his fathers, and was buried in the City of David his father.» 2 Chronicles 9: 29-31
Solomon is considered the wisest man who ever walked this Earth. He was also one of the richest kings who ever lived. And today’s text tells us about the end of his life, but know that the whole story of Solomon teaches us a lot about wisdom, riches, and the true value of things.
From a young age, Solomon knew that to be a good king, he needed wisdom more than money or power. When God offered him anything he desired, Solomon chose wisdom to rule his people fairly. And if it were you, what would you choose, huh? This shows us that wisdom is one of the greatest treasures we should seek.
Solomon’s story also teaches us about the temptations of riches and power. For all his accomplishments and treasures, he learned that none of this is of value without a true relationship with God. In the end, Solomon’s message is clear: the greatest riches are not found in treasures here on Earth, but in the wisdom and love of God.
Take Action
To grow in wisdom like Solomon, our challenge will take place throughout the month! The book of Ecclesiastes, written by him, is perfect for reading a chapter a day. But let’s do it this way: choose a few verses from each chapter to read and reflect on each day. So, step by step, our wisdom will increase!
