GOD WILL PROVIDE

«And Abraham said, “My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.” So the two of them went together. » Genesis 22: 8

God fulfilled His promise to Abraham after 25 years, and he finally had a son: Isaac. Isaac was born when Abraham was 100 years old! Wow! But sadly, over time, Abraham began to put Isaac first in his life. It was then that God asked Abraham to offer his son as a sacrifice. Abraham, trusting fully in God, obeyed. He took his son to the top of a mountain and, when he was ready for the sacrifice, he heard the voice of God calling him: “Abraham, Abraham!” Then a little lamb appeared to die in Isaac's place. “God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.” It is because of this unshakable confidence that we call Abraham “the father of faith”!

The story of Abraham and Isaac helps us understand what God felt when He gave His own Son, Jesus Christ, to die for us. But while Abraham didn't have to carry out the final command, God did. Jesus was the little lamb who died for our sins. By accepting what He has done, we can have eternal life!

Take Action

Go to a park or a quiet place in nature to go on a “walk of faith.” As you walk, think about the story of Abraham and Isaac and about Jesus' sacrifice. Reflect on what faith means to you and how you can trust God, even in difficult situations. At the end of the walk, say a prayer thanking God for His faithfulness and love.
