LESSONS FROM MORDECAI'S LIFE

For Mordecai the Jew was next unto king Ahasuerus, and great among the Jews, and accepted of the multitude of his brethren, seeking the wealth of his people, and speaking peace to all his seed. Esther 10: 3

Have you ever played dominoes? Not the one where you put numbers together, but stacking the pieces and watching them all fall after just one touch? This joke can teach us something amazing about life, especially when we look at the story of Mordecai in Esther 10.

Mordecai's life is a perfect example of the “domino effect.” Every choice he made, every act of kindness and courage, had an impact that went far beyond what he could have imagined. He made the decision to care for Esther as if she were his own daughter: a little domino piece that had fallen. Another important piece that started a series of impressive events in his life was when he discovered and denounced a conspiracy against the king. This gesture of loyalty not only protected the king but also placed Mordecai in a position of honor and influence. Like the dominoes that continue to fall, Mordecai's good deeds piled up, leading to Esther's influence to save the Jewish people and to his own rise to a position of great prestige.

Through Mordecai, we learn that there are no small acts. Every choice we make can have a huge impact, far beyond what we can imagine. His example shows us how courage, kindness and faithfulness not only shape our destiny but also the destiny of those around us.

Take Action

To visualize the impact of our actions, play a game of dominoes as a family. As the pieces begin to fall, remember the story of Mordecai and how his heroic act of saving the king's life set off a chain reaction of blessings and victories.
