«For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth.» Job 19: 25
There is a saying that goes like this: “We need to have the patience of Job.” Have you ever heard someone say that? Job was a very wealthy person, but he lost everything. Everything! Our enemy, the devil, challenged God, saying that Job was only faithful because he had so many blessings. So God allowed Job to lose his children, his possessions, and even his health, to prove to the devil that our love for Him does not depend on these things. Even in the face of so much loss and suffering, Job maintained his faith. He demonstrated patience and never questioned God's goodness. It is from this story that the saying comes, for in it the devil was defeated. Job endured the trials patiently and, as a reward, God blessed him with even more than he had! At the end of the book we see his most beautiful statement, even after all he had faced: “For I know that my Redeemer lives, and He shall stand at last on the earth.”
Unfortunately, we all face problems and difficulties in our lives. Sometimes we go through moments of suffering. At these times, it is important to remember and trust that God is with us and that anything may strengthen our faith and patience. And at the end of our story, we will also declare the same as Job: “I know that my Redeemer lives!”
Take Action
With the help of an adult, plant a small seed in a pot. It can be a flower, a vegetable, or any plant of your choice. Caring for a plant requires patience as it grows slowly, day by day. While caring for the plant, think about how important patience is in life, as well as for the plant to grow.
