MY ROCK AND MY REDEEMER

«Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults. Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless, and I shall be innocent of great transgression. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my rock and my Redeemer.» Psalm 19:12-14

Have you ever seen a big, firm rock? Have you tried lifting or moving it? It is impossible, right? It stands still, “steady and strong,” no matter the wind or rain. It does not matter what problem you have to face. The cool thing is that the Bible compares God to being our unshakable Rock!

In Psalm 19, David shows us how God is that strong Rock. He asks God to help him not to make mistakes and for his words and thoughts to be good in

God’s eyes. David knew that even though he was king, he needed God, the Rock that never moves or changes, to lean on at all times. He also wanted the protection of this Rock.

God, as our Rock, gives us security and stability. When we are confused, He gives us direction. When we are afraid, He gives us courage. And even when we feel alone, we can remember that God, our Rock, is always with us.

Always remember: God is our firm Rock. He is steady, strong, and always reliable. No matter what happens around us, we can always count on Him, for He will always be there, like a Rock!

Take Action

Just so you can remember how much God is our Rock, how about doing a special activity? Find a stone and decorate it with words or drawings that remind you of what God means to you. It could be “strength,” “love,” “protection,” or anything else He brings into your life. Then, place this stone in a special place in your room to always remember that God is your Rock!
