«The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.» Psalm 23: 1
I know that in the very modern world we live in, far from the farms and fields, it can be difficult for you to have ever seen a shepherd tending to his sheep. But, if you do some research, you will find someone who protects, guides and ensures that the sheep are always safe and happy. This is a beautiful picture of how God cares for us. Psalm 23 tells us, “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” This means that God is always by our side, watching over us like a shepherd cares for his sheep.
Just as a shepherd knows each of his sheep, God knows each one of us. You are special for God! He knows exactly what you need before you even ask for it. In this verse, He promises that you will not lack for anything! You may not have great luxuries, but He will always provide the basics for you and your family. How? By letting Him be your Shepherd, your guide and your protector.
When we are sad, God wants to comfort us. When we are lost, He shows us the Way. And even when we are afraid, we can trust that God, our Shepherd, will be with us, watching over us every step we take.
Take Action
Let's make a special drawing today! Draw a sheep and glue cotton wool to the design, representing the wool of the sheep. As you do so, think about how we are like those sheep, and God is our Shepherd, always watching over us.
