«The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?» Psalm 27: 1
Imagine a world without light, where everything is dark and we can't see anything. Sounds scary, doesn't it? Even more so for some children who are still a little afraid of the dark... Now, think with me of the relief and joy we feel when the light shines and everything becomes clear! When we turn on a light, the darkness goes away! This shows that the Light is much more powerful than the darkness! In Psalm 27, we find an incredible promise: “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?” This verse means that God is like a bright light that illuminates our lives and drives away our fears.
When God is our light, we don't need to be afraid of anything. He lights our way and shows us where to go. Just as a flashlight helps us see in the darkness, God helps us understand the things we don't know and find the Way when we are lost. It is only with Him that we can come out of the “darkness” in which we live, guiding ourselves with His wonderful Light. With Him, we are never alone in the darkness. He is always by our side, lighting our way and filling our hearts with courage.
Take Action
Take a piece of paper and decorate it with drawings that represent God's light to you. Then, roll the paper into a cylinder and place a small light or LED candle inside. You've just made your own flashlight! Remember: just as the flashlight illuminates the environment, God illuminates your life!
