«Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart….Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.» Psalm 37: 4,5
“Commit your way to the Lord” may seem a little complicated to put into practice, but it's something we can do every day. Imagine you have a map that shows you the way to a treasure. Now, think that this map is your life, and the treasure is your dreams and plans. Surrendering your way to God is like asking Him to be your guide on this adventure, and to show you the best way to get to the treasure.
In practice, this means talking to God about the things you want to do or the problems you're facing. For example, if you're worried about a test at school, you can ask God to help you study and understand what you're learning. Or, if you have a dream of being a great athlete, you can ask God to give you the strength and determination to train. To commit your way to God is to trust Him and ask for His help in all things, great or small. It's believing that He is watching over you. That will help you make the best choices and trust that it will satisfy “the desires of your heart.”
Take Action
Make a “dream map.” Take a sheet of paper and draw or write down your dreams and plans for the future. It could be something you want to do, a place you want to visit, or something you want to learn. Ask God to guide you and help you make these dreams come true in the best way. Keep this map in a special place and remember to look at it from time to time, remembering to trust God with your ways.
