«Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.» Psalm 55: 22
Our parents go to great lengths to give us the best. They work, cook, take care of us and do everything they can to make sure we have everything we need to live well. That's sustaining: bringing what keeps us alive and happy!
In Psalm 55:22, the Bible tells us something very special: “Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.” This means that God is like a superdad or supermom who takes care of us at all times. He is our great Sustainer!
When we are worried, sad, or afraid, we can count on God. He is always ready to help us and give us strength. Just as our parents sustain us at home, God sustains us in our lives. He cares for us and protects us, ensuring that we are safe and strong. Trust Him, He is watching over your family!
Take Action
Find a dry branch and place it in a pot, creating your “tree of worries.” Whenever you are worried about something, tie a piece of wool or colored ribbon to the branch, symbolizing the surrender of those worries to God. Over time, notice how the tree fills with color, representing all the times you have entrusted your worries to God. After a while, peel off the tapes one by one, and reflect on how God has taken care of each concern.
