«Before the Lord: for he cometh, for he cometh to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth.» Psalm 96: 13
Imagine a world where all decisions were made with complete fairness. It would be wonderful, wouldn't it? In today's verse, God is likened to a supreme judge, who will one day judge the earth with perfect justice and wisdom: “Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and all its fullness; let the field be joyful, and all that is in it. Then all the trees of the woods will rejoice before the Lord. For He is coming, for He is coming to judge the earth. He shall judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with His truth.” Just as a judge in a courtroom listens carefully to all sides of a case, God knows every detail of our lives, every thought and every action.
Our daily lives are like an open book to God. He sees how we treat those around us, how we respond in difficult situations and how we express our love and faith. Although we are saved by God's grace, the choices we make each day reflect how much we understand and accept that salvation. God wants us to live in a way that shows His love and kindness by practicing honesty, kindness and care for one another.
Take Action
Invite your family to a fun activity where you can simulate a courtroom. Choose a “judge” and present a fake case to be tried. The “judge” must listen to all arguments and make a fair and though-out decision. This game will help you understand the importance of listening carefully and making righteous decisions, just as God will do in His final judgment.
