«Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.» Psalm 103: 2
Being grateful is one of the most beautiful things we can be. Gratitude is when we feel happy and satisfied with what we have, without always wanting more and more. In Psalm 103, we are invited to praise God with gratitude: “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits” That would be like saying, “Come on, heart, let's be thankful for all the good God gives us!”
When we are grateful, we realize how blessed we are. God gives us far more than we need or even deserve. We have family, friends, food, a home, and so many other wonderful things. Even the little things, like a smile from a friend or a sunny day, are reasons to be grateful. Gratitude makes us see the world in a more positive and happy way.
Being grateful also means not always wanting what others have. It's being content with our toys, our clothes, and everything we have. When we are grateful, our life becomes lighter, because we learn to value every moment and every possession we have, without being in an unbridled search for things that will not bring us true satisfaction.
Take Action
Grab a pen and paper and make a list of everything you're grateful for. It can be your family, your friends, your talents, your personal characteristics, your home, your school, your toys, or anything that makes you feel happy and grateful. Keep this list in a special place and look at it whenever you need to remember all the good things God has given you.
