«The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth…. He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.» Psalm 145: 18,19
Have you ever had a dream that seemed impossible? Maybe to be an astronaut, a doctor, or even a great inventor? We all have dreams and desires, and the Bible tells us something very special about them. In Psalm 145:18 and 19, we learn that “The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He also will hear their cry and save them.”
This means that God is not distant or disinterested in our lives. On the contrary, He is very near, ready to hear our prayers and help us achieve our dreams. When we fear God, not only with fear, but with respect, reverence and love, we recognize that He is God and we are not. We understand how big He is, and how small we are. And yet, when we put our dreams in His hands, we can trust that He can make them come true.
But remember, dreaming isn't just about wishing for something and hoping it happens. It's also about working hard, learning and growing every day. And while we do our part, God does His, taking care of us and helping us overcome our limitations and challenges.
Take Action
Grab a piece of paper and write down one of your dreams. Then say a little prayer, surrendering that dream to God. Keep this paper in a special place and, every once in a while, look at it and remember that God is working in your life to help make that dream come true.
