TRUST IN THE LORD

«Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones.» Proverbs 3:5-8

Have you ever played that game where you throw yourself backwards, trusting that someone will catch you? It is a game that requires a lot of trust, isn’t it? In the Bible, in Proverbs 3:5-8, we learn about an even more special kind of trust: trust in God. The verse says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”

Trusting God is like throwing yourself backwards, but without seeing who is behind you. And much more than that! It is believing that God is always there, ready to hold you, even if you cannot see Him. Trusting God means believing that He knows what is best for us and that He will guide us down the right path, even when we do not understand everything that is going on.

Increasing our trust in God can be challenging, but the more we trust, the more we realize how faithful and caring He is. He loves us and wants the best for us, and when we trust Him, we can live with more peace and joy, and why not: throw ourselves into His arms!

Take Action

Try the “leap of faith” game with an adult you trust. Stand with your back to that person and let yourself fall, believing that they will hold you. This activity is a playful way to understand what it means to put our faith in God, even without being able to see Him.
