«He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.» Proverbs 16:32
Staying calm and self-controlled is a valuable skill, especially in times of frustration or anger. Have you ever felt so angry that you wanted to yell or throw something? We all go through moments like this, but did you know that learning to control these feelings is very important? Proverbs 16:32 teaches us that “he who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.” This means that being patient and maintaining self-control is a great achievement! I do not think the Hulk knows this verse!
When we are angry, it is easy to lose control and do or say things we may regret later. But if we learn to take a deep breath, count to ten, and think before we act, we can avoid a lot of trouble. This does not mean that we should not express our feelings, but rather that we should find healthy ways to deal with them. After all, “he who is slow to anger is better than the mighty.”
Take Action
Practice self-control! The next time you feel irritated or frustrated, try to stop for a moment. Go some-where else, take a deep breath, count to ten, and think of something that calms you down. This can help put your mind at ease and help you find a better solution to what is bothering you. Remember, having self-control is like being a superhero who manages to win the battle against anger!
