IF YOUR ENEMY IS HUNGRY

«If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink; for so you will heap coals of fire on his head, and the Lord will reward you.» Proverbs 25:21, 22

In every hero story, there is a villain; an enemy. Of course, it is terrible to deal with people who do not like us, but unfortunately, there are a lot of people who do not have good taste. Get the joke? In our journey of life, there will be people who will talk badly about us behind our backs or who will do things to harm us. And it is not always because we have done something wrong, but on the contrary, sometimes it is out of pure envy!

The Bible gives us a piece of advice that is very, very challenging if we are going through these situations: we should help people who do not like us. It may seem difficult, but it is a challenge that comes with a promise: God will reward us. You see, we make mistakes constantly. Even so, God, in His infinite goodness and mercy, is always ready to forgive us. All this generosity should be a great example for us. Why not try to be more like Him and be kind, generous, and empathetic to those who do not like us? Now that can turn ordinary people into true heroes!

Take Action

Do something nice for someone you know (or suspect) does not like you. Before you leave the house, pray for that person. As you do, you will “ you will heap coals of fire on his head, and the Lord will reward you.” He will reward you!
