«Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.» Ecclesiastes 9: 10
Have you ever noticed how sometimes we do things only to get them over with? Whether it's at school, when doing physical activities, at home or even in our hobbies, sometimes we don't give our best. But did you know that the Bible encourages us to do everything with all our might?
In the book of Ecclesiastes, we find a very special piece of advice: “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might.” This means that whatever the task, big or small, we need to learn to always give our best. This goes for studying, helping around the house, practicing a sport, or even playing. And it's not just in everyday tasks that we must give our best. When we go to church, when we pray, when we read the Bible, or when we help others, we can do all of this by giving our best to God. He deserves the best of our time, talents and skills.
When we do something with dedication, we are honoring God and showing gratitude for all that He provides for us. Plus, when we try our hardest, we may be surprised at how much we're able to accomplish!
Take Action
To practice doing your best, choose an activity that you will do today. It could be a homework assignment, a drawing, helping your parents, or anything else. Do this activity with all your attention and effort, as if you were doing it for God. Then, reflect on how it felt to do your best. Did you notice any difference in the final result?
