«Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, Before the difficult days come, And the years draw near when you say, “I have no pleasure in them”:» Ecclesiastes 12: 1
Our brain is like a super machine that stores thousands of pieces of information, but sometimes we forget important things, like where we left the keys, passwords to an account, or the name of a friend from school. However, one thing we must never forget is our Creator, God, throughout our lives.
In the book of Ecclesiastes, we are counseled to remember God when we are young: “Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, before the difficult days come, and the years draw near when you say, ‘I have no pleasure in them’.” This is important because, as we grow and get older, we may face many challenges and difficult situations. The more of God we have in our youth, the more that will be reflected in our later adulthood. And it will help us face those moments with faith and hope.
Remembering God means thinking about Him in our daily activities, talking to Him in prayer and reading the Bible to better understand His teachings. When we remember God, we are better prepared to make good decisions and live in a way that pleases Him. Think with me: what would your routine, your daily life be like if you remembered God in every moment?
Take Action
To help you remember God more during the day, create little reminders. It could be a drawing, a phrase, or an object that you put in a visible place, such as in your room or in your school bag. Every time you see this reminder, say a little prayer or think of something you are thankful to God for. This will help keep God in your mind and heart throughout the day.
