«Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” » Isaiah 6:1-8
At school, when the teacher makes the roll call and it's your turn, you answer “Present!”, right? In the Bible, we see many stories of people God has called to special missions. Each of these people responded in their own unique way. One of the most amazing answers was that of Isaiah. He had such a grand vision of God that he was frightened at his own smallness. But when God asked, “Whom shall I send? Who goes for us?”, Isaiah had no doubt. He said, “Here I am, send me!” This simple but very profound answer shows Isaiah's courage and his overwhelming desire to do what God asked.
Isaiah, in offering to serve God, even though he was aware of his limitations, highlights a fundamental truth: God does not seek perfection, but rather the willingness and courage to follow His calling. God also calls each of us today, in different ways. It can be an invitation to help someone, to learn something new that can help others in the future, or any other “mission.” This is God's true calling: to seek to do what He asks of us, to live in service, to reflect His light in our daily actions.
Take Action
Why not accept a challenge similar to Isaiah's? You can volunteer at a ministry in your church. It doesn't matter if it's something small, like helping to set up the chairs after the service, or something a little bigger, like joining a worship group or helping with the children's ministry. The important thing is to say to God, “Here I am! You can send me!” That way, you'll be making a big difference in your community and showing that you're ready to help by following Isaiah's example.
