JOSEPH ALLOWS HIMSELF TO BE RECOGNIZED BY HIS BROTHERS

« Then Joseph said to his brothers, “I am Joseph; does my father still live?” But his brothers could not answer him, for they were dismayed in his presence. » Genesis 45: 3

In this part of the story, we witness an emotional reunion that looks like something out of a movie. It would be like those reunions at the airport! Joseph, now powerful in Egypt, finally reveals his true identity to his brothers, the same ones who sold him into slavery so many years ago. Can you imagine their shock and surprise? Joseph, who could have taken revenge, chose the path of forgiveness and reconciliation.

Not only did he forgive his brothers but he also invited them to live in Egypt with him, offering them refuge and provisions during the years of famine that still plagued the region. This gesture of Joseph shows how big our hearts can be when we choose to forgive those who have wronged us. Instead of holding a grudge or desiring revenge, Joseph saw God's hand guiding his journey from the difficult times to his position of authority, allowing him to safeguard his family and many others from starvation.

Joseph's attitude teaches a valuable lesson about the power of forgiveness and how it can transform situations and relationships. Even in the face of betrayal, Joseph chose to love and forgive, demonstrating incredible strength and generosity. This makes us wonder: if Joseph was able to forgive something so big, can we look at the small disagreements in our daily lives and do the same?

Take Action

Ask someone from your family to blindfold you, and carefully try to recognize the faces of your parents and your family just by touch. This will help you realize the value of the connection and love we have with our loved ones, even if we don't see it, just like Joseph felt when he reconnected with his family.
