«The earth is also defiled under its inhabitants, Because they have transgressed the laws, Changed the ordinance, Broken the everlasting covenant.» Isaiah 24: 5
Have you ever been grounded? Sometimes, when we do something wrong, our parents leave us without something we like so that we can reflect on our actions and our temperament. It sounds bad, but it's a way to help us understand right and wrong. Similarly, Isaiah 24:1 to 5 tells of a serious time when God decided to correct the people of the world for not taking good care of Him and of one another.
This part of the Bible shows us that, just as parents correct their children, God also needs to correct us sometimes. But why would He do that? Because people have forgotten to be just, to care for the Earth, and to treat others with kindness. The earth suffers from this, and God, who loves each of us and the planet, needs to remind us to live better.
Today's text teaches us the importance of caring for the world and living justly. Every choice we make, such as littering or not being kind, can have a big impact now or even in the future. God wants us to be caring and loving, not just because we obey, but because it is best for all of us and for our planet.
