«I will give you the treasures of darkness And hidden riches of secret places, That you may know that I, the Lord, Who call you by your name, Am the God of Israel.» Isaiah 45: 3
Imagine finding a treasure map, kind of like pirate stories, that leads you to discover something incredible and valuable. Now, think that God has such a special treasure, but much better, more important and more lasting. In today's text, God promises to give hidden treasures and riches kept in secret places. But it's not gold or jewels He's talking about. These treasures are far more valuable: they are the blessings, wisdom and knowledge that come from knowing God and following His ways.
God says He's going to open paths where there seem to not be any, and He's going to illuminate dark places. This means that, even when we face problems or difficult situations, God can show us solutions and help us find good things that we didn't see before. Hidden treasures can be new friendships, learning something that makes us grow, or even discovering a strength within us that we didn't know we had.
This promise teaches us that, when we trust God and follow what He tells us, we can find incredible treasures in our lives. Treasures that make our lives better and happier, and that help us be a blessing to others as well.
Take Action
Go on a scavenger hunt at home or in the backyard, using clues that lead to “hidden treasures” –little things that make you happy, like a favorite book, a special keepsake, or even a yummy, sweet treat. As you play, remember that, in life, God guides us to discover far more precious treasures: love, friendship, hope and wisdom.
