A TREE BY THE WATERS

«For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not [c]fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.» Jeremiah 17: 8

Did you know that there are more than 60,000 different types of trees in the world? Each one of them is special, with its own characteristics, such as the shape, height and color of the leaves. Just like trees, each of us is unique and special in our own way.

God created us to be awesome, not just “average.” You are unique and that is wonderful! There is no one in the whole world who is exactly like you. That's something to celebrate! In Jeremiah 17:7 and 8, God compares us to a tree planted by the waters. When we trust and put our hope in the Lord, we are like that tree, strong and able to face any challenge.

This biblical passage teaches us that, when we are rooted in God, we need not fear when hard times come. Just as the tree continues to bear fruit even in drought, we too can continue to grow and thrive, even when things around us seem difficult. Remember, a tree doesn't grow strong and healthy overnight. It needs time, care and, above all, a constant source of water. In the same way, our relationship with God needs to be cultivated every day, so that we can be that tree by the waters.

Take Action

Choose a suitable spot and plant a small tree or even a seed. Just as the tree needs water, sunshine and care to grow, you also need to nourish yourself spiritually to strengthen your connection with God. Make this a special project by observing how, with time and care, both the tree and your faith become stronger and deeper.
