DANIEL AND THE LIONS

«My God sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouths, so that they have not hurt me, because I was found innocent before Him; and also, O king, I have done no wrong before you.”» Daniel 6: 22

Daniel was a praying man. He was in the habit of talking to God three times a day! And because he stood out so much in the kingdom, some men became jealous and began to look for something Daniel did wrong. Since they didn't find anything (amazing, isn't it?), they hatched a plan for the king to make a law that would forbid people to pray to anyone other than the king. What a set-up against Daniel! If anyone disobeyed this law, he would be thrown into a pit full of lions!

Even with this law, Daniel did not stop praying. Because of this, he was thrown into the pit, and can you imagine what happened? God sent angels to shut the mouth of the lions, and Daniel didn't suffer a scratch! It shows us that, when we stand with God, He does amazing things to protect us.

Daniel's story teaches us how important it is to take the time to talk to God. He prayed three times a day, and so can we. Sadly, sometimes we leave the house without praying; eat or sleep without giving thanks for God's blessings. Remember: God is our friend, so talk to Him through prayer! We'll never know how many deliverances we'll have for praying, will we?

Take Action

Try praying three times a day, as Daniel did. You can pray in the morning when you wake up, in the afternoon and before bed. It can be a short prayer, thanking God for the day, asking for protection, or talking about what's on your heart. Remember, prayer is like a conversation with a very special friend: God!
