«“Therefore thus will I do to you, O Israel; Because I will do this to you, Prepare to meet your God, O Israel!”…For behold, He who forms mountains, And creates the wind, Who declares to man what his thought is, And makes the morning darkness,Who treads the high places of the earth—The Lord God of hosts is His name.» Amos 4: 12,13
What would you do if you had an appointment with our God? Know that this special day is approaching, a day when all of us will –finally– meet God. The Bible, in Amos 4:12 and 13, warns us about the importance of being prepared for this moment. It's not like getting ready for a party or an ordinary event; it's something much more meaningful and important than we can imagine!
God, our Creator, who knows every detail of the universe, also knows us deeply. He knows everything about us and, one day, just before Jesus returns, He will judge us for all that we have done. This encounter with God will be a time of evaluation of our actions, words and thoughts. That's why the text of Amos says we need to prepare. Preparing for such an encounter means living according to the teachings of God's Word. It's living knowing that, one day, He will bring judgment to all that we do. It is to live more responsibly, remembering that our every choice and action will echo in eternity.
Take Action
To prepare for the encounter with God, reflect on how you have been living. Think of ways you can show love and kindness in your daily life. Perhaps you can help more around the house, be more patient with your friends and family, or take a special time to study the Bible and pray. Remember, every positive action brings us closer to God and prepares us for the great day of His return.
