THE BEATITUDES

«Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God.» Matthew 5: 9

Together with His disciples, Jesus went to various places teaching about the Kingdom of God and the Gospel. Everyone wanted to hear what Jesus had to teach. And one of Jesus' most well-known teachings was the Sermon on the Mount. In this sermon, He teaches us the way to true happiness:

Happy are the humble in spirit, for the kingdom of heaven is theirs.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Happy are the humble, for they will inherit the earth.

Happy are those who desire righteousness, for they will attain it.

Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

Blessed are those who have a pure heart, for they shall see God.

Happy are those who make peace, for they will be called children of God.

Happy are those who are persecuted because they do God's will, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Jesus wants to see all his children happy! So even if someone in your family isn't feeling well right now, say a prayer for them. Ask that everyone may experience the true happiness that only Jesus can offer!

Take Action

This week, choose one of the Beatitudes taught by Jesus and try to put it into practice. For example, if you choose “happy are the peacemakers,” try to be a peacemaker in your home or school. If you choose “happy are the merciful,” do an act of kindness for someone in need. At the end of the week, share with your family or friends at church what that experience was like and what you learned from it.
