«Then some began to spit on Him, and to blindfold Him, and to beat Him, and to say to Him, “Prophesy!” And the officers [l]struck Him with the palms of their hands.» Mark 14: 65
Imagine someone going through a very difficult situation, being mocked and mistreated, but without having done anything to deserve it. This is exactly what happened to Jesus, as we see in today's text, Mark 14:65. People covered His face, mocked Him and even beat Him up. But why did Jesus, being so good and powerful, let this happen? He faced and endured all this for a very special reason: us.
Jesus could have avoided all this, but He chose to go through these hardships so that we could understand the true meaning of what a real sacrifice is and what love is. He suffered humiliation and pain that we would deserve for our mistakes, but He did it because He loves us more than we can imagine. Even in the most difficult times, Jesus thought of us and chose to continue with His mission, even though He suffered so much. He didn't give up on us! And He's still not giving up on you! Jesus understands our pain and is always with us, offering us His hand and His heart full of love. Let's make sure that all this suffering is not in vain on this day!
