«I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own.» John 10: 14
In the Bible, Jesus compares Himself to a shepherd; but not just any shepherd, He is the Good Shepherd. What does that mean? A good shepherd cares for his sheep with love and dedication. You see, theoretically, every shepherd does this. But the difference comes from the motivation of the heart. There are people who work just to get money at the end of the month. Can you believe that? Unfortunately, there are people who work in what they don't like! Of course, the dream is to be able to dedicate yourself to what you love, but if that is not possible, we need to enjoy our work at least a little bit.
Jesus is the Good Shepherd because He knows each of His “sheep” by name; He knows when we are sick or sad and He does everything to protect us from danger. He, as our Good Shepherd, takes care of us. He knows each one of us deeply, knows what we need and is always ready to help us. He loves us so much that He even gave His life for us, just like a shepherd who faces wolves to protect his sheep.
Being one of Jesus' sheep means trusting Him and following Him. Just as sheep follow their shepherd, we should follow Jesus, listening to His voice through the Bible and prayer. You can trust Him. After all, He is the Good Shepherd!
Take Action
Create your own sheep using cotton and other materials you have at home. You can use a piece of cardboard as a base, glue cotton to make the sheep's body and add eyes and other details. As you make your sheep, think about how Jesus, the Good Shepherd, takes care of you every day.
