«And let them make Me a sanctuary,[] that I may dwell among them.» Exodus 25: 8
God has always wanted to be close to humanity. When He created Adam and Eve, the plan was for them to live close to Him. But, unfortunately, they sinned and turned away from God. And that continued with their descendants as well. God missed being with His children, and asked Moses to build a special house for Him: “And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them.” This sanctuary had several symbolic items that pointed to what would happen in the future. Today, God no longer dwells in a physical home like the sanctuary; He wants to dwell in our hearts!
Even though God's house is now our heart, there is still one special place where people gather to worship God: the church! Going to church is very important because there we learn more about God and His Word. We can also talk to other people who believe in God and make new friends. Ask your parents to take you to church! Worshipping God at church does us a lot of good!
Take Action
Draw or write an invitation for someone you would like to bring to church. It could be a friend, a neighbor, or even a family member. Explain in the invitation why you like going to church and how cool it would be if they went with you. Giving this invitation is a nice way to help people come to know God's house.
