«And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.» 1 Corinthians 13: 13
Did you know that 1 Corinthians 13 is one of the chapters in the Bible that explains the most about love? It's so special that people even use its verses in wedding invitations. The characteristics of love described in this chapter are also found in the fruit of the Spirit, reflecting the same essence.
As we analyze each characteristic of love in this chapter, we realize that they not only describe love itself, but also speak about a person: Jesus. In Jesus, we find all these qualities of love! Jesus was patient with people, super kind, never envious and didn't think He was better than anyone. In other words, Jesus is the “personification” of love! He showed true love in everything He did. Always caring for others, helping and forgiving. It's as if this chapter were a mirror reflecting Jesus' love for us.
The love described in 1 Corinthians 13 is strong, doesn't get angry easily and doesn't hold grudges. It always protects, trusts, hopes and endures. This love never fails, just as Jesus never failed to love us. While other things in life may pass away, love remains. It is eternal, just like God's love for us. And it is this love that we should seek to reflect in our lives, loving others as Jesus loved us.
Take Action
