WHAT IT'S LIKE TO LIVE IN FAMILY AND UNITY

«Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone,» Ephesians 2: 19,20

Imagine you're playing with a big set of building blocks, like Lego. With these blocks, you decide to build the biggest and coziest house of all, where all your friends can live together with you. In today's text, Paul tells us about a very special house that we are building together: the family of God. In this family, we are not just neighbors or acquaintances; we are brothers and sisters, united by Jesus, who is the most important stone of all, holding everything firmly together.

Being part of this family means you're never alone. Imagine that every friend you invite to help you in your mission to build your house brings a block to join in. Some blocks are blue, some red, some big and some small, but they're all important. Look, I know you already have your family, but the family we're talking about today is a much, much bigger family! It's a family that will start here on earth, in our churches (and that's why we call ourselves “brothers”), and will be even bigger in Heaven! That's why Jesus invites us to live together, sharing love, helping each other and learning more about Him every day, so that we can prepare for Heaven, where we will have the biggest family of all!

Take Action

At the next sunset service, invite your friends to a special challenge: to build the biggest block house possible. Everyone should bring their own blocks, symbolizing diversity and unity in God's family. While you're building, share what you learned in today's devotional!
