«There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.» Ephesians 4: 4-6
We live in a world where many say that “all roads lead to God.” But that is not quite true... God’s Word presents us with Jesus as the Way (see more in John 14:6). This means that there is no other way to come to God except through Jesus Christ.
Following the way of Jesus is no longer one possible option; it is the only one. When we deviate from what He has taught us, we run the risk of going down another path and getting lost. This basis is import-ant for us to understand today’s text. In Ephesians 4:4-6, the Bible reminds us of the unity we find in our faith. It tells us that there is “one Lord, one faith, one baptism.” Do you realize that this text already shows that there are not several paths that lead to God? There is only one!
The phrase “one baptism” reminds us of the importance of our commitment to Christ. Baptism is the pub-lic symbol of our faith and commitment to Jesus. It is a declaration that we have chosen to follow the only Way, the one that leads us to salvation. Therefore, as we live in a world with many different opinions and beliefs, let us remember that the truth is clear: there is only one Lord, only one faith, and only one Way that leads us into the presence of God. May we follow this Way with faith and conviction, standing firm in the truth we find in our Savior Jesus Christ.
Take Action
Today, take time to reflect on your commitment to Jesus as The Way. If you have already been baptized, re-member the significance of this act, and reaffirm your commitment to follow the truth of Christ. If you have not yet been baptized, consider the importance of this step in your faith journey. Regardless of where you are, pray to God for the strength to stand firm following the only Way that leads us to eternal life.
