«Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.» Ephesians 6: 11
The great truth is that we live in the midst of a great spiritual battle: the great conflict! In Ephesians 6:11 and 12, the Bible tells us about the “armor of God,” a powerful image that teaches us about the importance of spiritual protection. This armor is our defense against the wiles of our enemy:
· The belt of truth: Just as a belt surrounds us completely, we must be surrounded by truth in our lives. Our enemy is the father of lies, and the truth is our protection against his deceptions.
· The breastplate of justice: The breastplate protects the heart and vital organs. We must carry on our chests the fact that we have been justified by Jesus. This means that what protects our heart is what He has done for us.
· The shoes of peace: Our feet are shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. We must preach everywhere we go, taking the gospel with us. But remember to be patient; after all, each person has their own time to accept the message we bring!
· The shield of faith: The shield is used to block the enemy's fiery darts. Our faith is like a shield that protects us from spiritual attacks. Believing in God and His Word keeps us safe.
· The helmet of salvation: The helmet protects our mind. We must take care of what we see and watch, because our head is only really protected if we have thoughts that lift us up to God.
· The sword of the Spirit: Finally, we have the sword, which is the Word of God. It is our spiritual weapon, but we must use it wisely. It can hurt if we don't know how to use it correctly. We must use it to defend ourselves against attacks, just as Jesus did when He said: “It is written!”
When we wear all the items of this armor, we will be well protected spiritually and can face any challenges with confidence, knowing that God will be by our side protecting us.
Take Action
This week, take some time to meditate on each part of the armor of God and how it applies to your life. Pray asking God to equip you with His spiritual armor to face daily challenges.
