HOW TO UNDERSTAND CHRIST'S DIVINITY

«For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily» Colossians 2: 9

Have you ever admired the sea, observing how it stretches as far as the eye can see? Or have you ever tried to count the grains of sand on a beach or the stars in the sky, realizing that it is impossible to count them all because they are infinite? These wonders of nature give us a glimpse of what divinity means. In today's text, Colossians 2:9 to 15, Paul teaches us that the fullness of God was present in Jesus. This means that, although Jesus was a person like us, He had within Him everything that makes God God: His infinite love, His boundless power, His wisdom and His eternity.

God is so great and wonderful that it's hard for us to fully understand. He is eternal, which means that He has always existed and will always exist, unlike everything we know, which has a beginning and an end. God is beyond time. This can be difficult to understand, because everything in our lives, like the seasons or our own growth, has a duration, a passage of time. But God is God and we are not!

Thinking about God in this way helps us to understand a little about how wonderful He is. And even though He is so great and infinite, He loves us completely and wants to be close to us. That's why He sent Jesus to us, so that we could better understand His divine nature.

At your next family service, have a fun competition to see who can count to the highest number. Remember that however far we can count, it's still tiny compared to God's greatness! Wow!
