«For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.» 2 Timothy 1: 12
Have you ever had a super important secret that you only trusted to one special person because you knew they wouldn't tell anyone else? In 2 Timothy 1:12, Paul says something that makes us think about this kind of trust. He says: “I know whom I have believed.” This means that Paul had absolute trust in God, knowing that He is powerful and faithful to take care of everything that was in His care.
Trusting in God is like having a treasure stored in the safest place there is. No matter what happens around us, we can rest assured because we know that God is looking after us. And He is not only powerful, but He also loves us very much and knows what is best for us. When we understand this, we can say like Paul: “I know whom I have believed.”
When we trust in God, we don't have to be afraid of the future or worry about whether things will work out. Even when we don't understand what's going on, we can rest in the knowledge that God is in control. Know that faith is not believing that God can, it's knowing that God will!
Take Action
Try something this week: every time you feel worried or uncertain about something, say to yourself: “I know whom I have believed.” This can help you remember that God is with you and that you can trust Him, no matter what. You can also write this phrase somewhere you can see it every day, as a reminder of your trust in God.
