«in all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility,… sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you.» Titus 2: 7,8
Every word we say and every action we take writes a story about us, as if we were living books. Titus 2:7 and 8 invites us to reflect on the kind of story we want to tell the world. The message is clear: we are called to be examples, not only through our actions, but also through the words we choose to use.
Imagine that you are like a book that people read every day. Every action you take, every word you say, is like a page in that book. What would you like people to read? Stories of kindness, words of encouragement and actions that do good? That's exactly what the Bible encourages us to be. When we say good things, help others and act justly, we are being an incredible example of how to follow Jesus.
But why is it so important to watch what we say? Because our words have power! They have the power to build or destroy, to encourage or discourage. That's why it's so important to be careful with what we say. Now, think: what kind of chapters are you writing in the story of your life? Are they chapters that you would be proud to read out loud?
Take Action
Create the cover of your life story book. Use paper, colored pencils, pens or whatever you prefer. Think of a title that would represent the story you want to tell with your life. Once you've finished, put this cover somewhere you can see it every day, as a reminder that your every word and action contributes to the incredible story you're writing.
