THE ONLY SACRIFICE

«He then would have had to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now, once at the end of the ages, He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.» Hebrews 9: 26

Imagine that you live in Old Testament times, where every mistake or sin required the sacrifice of a small animal from your flock. You had to choose a beloved animal, take it to the temple and sacrifice it as payment for your mistake. That was the way to seek forgiveness and cleansing from sins; a painful process that took place every “holy day” and never seemed enough.

When Jesus came into the world, he brought a revolutionary change to this system. As explained in Hebrews 9:24 to 28, Jesus became the final and perfect sacrifice for all our sins, once and for all. By offering His own life on the cross, Jesus paid the price for every mistake, every fault, every evil thought; in short, for every sin we commit. He did this, not just for the sins of a day, a year or a generation, but for all the sins of humanity, from every era. That was the only sacrifice capable of taking away all our mistakes!

Take Action

Take out a calculator and think about how many sins you commit every day. Difficult, right! Say 10, 20, 30? Multiply that number by 365, which represents the days in the year. Now multiply that total by the number of years you have. That's how many sins you've accumulated in your life. Surprising, isn't it? But here comes the good news: by accepting Jesus, He can wipe away all those sins, no matter how big the number. This shows how powerful and comprehensive Jesus' sacrifice for us is.
