«Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.» Hebrews 11: 1
“It's a bird, it's a plane...” This iconic phrase makes us think of superheroes, doesn't it? Heroes are people who do incredible and memorable things. But did you know that the Bible also has its own heroes? They don't fly through the sky or have superpowers like Superman. They are ordinary people who have accomplished incredible feats through faith in God!
Chapter 11 of Hebrews is like a great storybook full of heroes of faith. But what is faith? Faith isn't just believing in something, it's living it! Every hero mentioned in this chapter demonstrated faith through their actions. They trusted in God and did incredible things!
· Abraham, for example, was called by God to leave his land and go to an unknown place. He obeyed, even though he didn't know where he was going. That's faith.
· Moses stood up to Pharaoh and led the people of Israel out of Egypt. He trusted God, even when things seemed impossible. What was that? Faith.
· Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers, but he remained faithful to God and became an important leader in Egypt, saving the whole world from famine. His faith led him to success!
· And what about David, who faced a giant with just a stone and a sling? He trusted in God and won! That was a demonstration of... Faith!
