«Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of His creatures.» James 1:17, 18
In our lives, a sad truth is that we are all sinners. This means that we often make mistakes and make choices that are not the best. Do not despair if you identified yourself, we are all like that! However, God in His infinite goodness wants to act in our lives! James 1:17-18 teaches us that “every good gift and every perfect gift is from above.” These gifts are the manifestations of God’s love, despite our imperfections.
These gifts, such as love, faith, peace, and joy, are not things we get by ourselves. They come from God, through the Holy Spirit, working in our hearts. Sometimes we forget that the biblical characters, even though they were so famous and had done so much for God, were also sinners. That is, what they did right, they only did because they allowed the Holy Spirit to use them! And the good news is: He also wants to act in our lives. So if you are feeling like doing something good, know that it is the Holy Spirit wanting to use you! Pray right now that He will lead you to do what is best, not for you, but for Him!
Take Action
Today, your task is to be an instrument of the Holy Spirit to spread goodness. It could be something as simple as sharing a snack, helping a friend with their homework, or giving a hug to someone who seems to need it. The important thing is to act with a heart full of love, reflecting the perfect gift that comes from above!
